I just realized the protagonist's name is probably supposed to be pronounced like "Madeline", not like a product name.

were you pronouncing it like bumbline

now that i think about it, it is valid to pronounce "madeline" with an "i" rather than an "e" sound for the first phoneme of the last syllable. but i still just did not get the connection.

I'm absolutely in love with this game and would love a difficulty option so it can be harder

this game changed me. i now know my purpose in life. Thank you akai the creator.

i beat it in an hour and 20 minutes. I don't know if this game is intended to be a fever dream but the perceived surreal nature of the game was a primary factor of our enjoyment.

Hi! I'm organizing the 'Thank You Itch' bundle in which submissions end tomorrow. 100% of proceeds go to itch.io to support the platform. Your game Bumbleline looks great and fits our criteria. Would you be interested in joining? Thank You Itch! - itch.io

man, didn't see this message

Hello, I have a question about the bundle.

Will I still be able to collect any profits I made from Bumbleline before the bundle launches, or will all the profits, past and future, just go to itch.io?

You would still make profits from your normal game sales. Only sales made through the bundle i.e buying the bundle, would all go to itch.io.

Hello! I bought and finished the game (3h 35m total playtime). Overall, I really enjoyed it! The characters are delightful, and I enjoyed all the unique ideas you added, from the balloon bounces to the secret passcodes. You clearly put a lot of care into this, and that shows. While I do think $5 is a bit ambitious in its current state, I’m honestly impressed by what you’ve created. I think Bumbleline is a noteworthy project, and you should be proud of finishing and publishing a full game!!!

My Biggest Feedback (no spoilers): The final boss felt kinda overly punishing due to three things, and I think some adjustments could make the fight feel more fair while staying challenging:

  1. The boss moved very quickly and far horizontally, much farther than in your longplay video. It felt like I was chasing after the boss at varying levels of speed, so during phase two I often ended up bumping into the arms a lotttt. A slower boss, or perhaps a way to stun the boss would be good.
  2. The hitboxes felt inconsistent or hard to read (the red tie area felt very small and sometimes when I attacked at the red tie area, it would not count it as damage. I had trouble finding which part of the boss was damageable. Having the boss telegraph his attack in advance, and perhaps coloring or showing where the hitboxes are would also be useful.
  3. I wasn’t able to hover like you did in the longplay video (I had to press W and S a lot which made attacking with X very difficult), and I often drifted too high and lost sight of the boss. Improving the hovering control or adding a ceiling that keeps Bumbleline below the boss’s head would help greatly. Also having the background move down while Bumbleline moves up could help show the movement better, as I noticed that the background seemed to stay still no matter which direction I moved which made it confusing to figure out where I was.

I appreciate your longplay video which genuinely helped me when I got stuck on a puzzle (especially the poop wall at the 35:41 minute mark lol I didn't realize I had to shoot da poop).

Favorite moments: I really liked the ice level, especially the slide → jump → balloon bounce section (15:45 minute mark in your longplay). It felt smooth and satisfying like a Sonic level. I also loved the spinning platforms in World 4, the bouncy purple goo, and the interaction in World 5 with Hairmachine (34:20 minute mark). Also, the animated cutscenes were very charming and fun to watch, and that effort really stood out to me because I think animation takes a very long time to make (at least for me). My biggest sadness is that I never got to see an ending cutscene or picture of all the friends I saved such as the ladybug and Hairmachine; that made me realize how amazing it was to play the game :D Overall, this was a creative and heartfelt project, and I think every game you make will sharpen your skills even more especially as you learn new things. Thank you for making Bumbleline!

No, thank YOU for playing the game and giving feedback!

I really appreciate the feedback about the final boss :D There is actually a ceiling that stops Bumbleline from going too high in-game, but I think I must have put that wayyy to unreasonably high. The reason it seemed like the final boss wasn't taking health was because the space between the boss's health hearts made it so that you couldn't see the boss taking damage for a bit.
(After I read this, I used some of the feedback you gave me about the final boss, and it felt MUCH better to play, so I'm probably going to add a patch for that)

I'm lwk a little surprised you LIKED the ladybug character (Coccinelle), her character was designed to be an unlikable person that you still have to help for the greater good. But I guess her dialogue was funny enough that she was an enjoyable character.

I'm glad some parts of the game felt like playing a Sonic level, because (as said in the description), Sonic 2 was a big inspiration for the game. I think I will add some sort of epilogue or ending cutscene that you can watch after the game ends in future updates, that way you can see all the friends you saved. :)

Overall, I'm going to take this feedback into consideration when I make future updates for Bumbleline, and even when I make my next game.

:0 I did not realize Coccinelle was meant to be an unlikeable person based on her dialogue! She had a very distorted voice which made it a little hard to understand her aside from her being very sad and blaming Bumbleline/me for tripping the alarm of the antjelly freighter. (I think at some point I heard her talk about doing a letsplay?) Since she tagged along for the journey I felt she was friendly to me ^^

I see that you've been updating the game and made improvements which is awesome!
